Hundreds of supporters of U.S. President Donald Trump began to meet in Washington, D.C., yesterday, the day before a protest called by the president, who refuses to admit defeat in the November elections. Coming all over the country, the protesters said they were responding to Trump's call to demonstrate in the capital today, when the United States Congress is expected to certify the electoral victory of President-elect Democrat Joe Biden. "My commander-in-chief called me, and my Lord and Savior told me to come," said Debbie Lusk, 66, a retired accountant Seattle, on the west coast of the country. Many protesters hope for a last-minute surprise that will keep Trump in power after Jan. 20, the date of Biden's inauguration.
